Søuld participates in the Interreg project Power Bio

Power Bio is a project that has received support within the focus area "Green transition" under the Interreg Öresund-Kattegat-Skagerak (ÖKS) program 2021-2027.

The project works with a number of cases across municipalities in Sweden and Denmark. The purpose is to test, demonstrate and implement new practices for municipalities' mowing and collection of various biomasses such as grass and washed-up seaweed. The focus is, among other things, on looking at the cascade thinking and ensuring a longer value chain in relation to the use of the biomass, which contributes to the transition to renewable energy and high-value products.

Søuld produces acoustic materials out of eelgrass. In Power Bio they explore possibilities to use eelgrass that is collected as a part of the beach cleaning of the participating municipalities. Søuld is also exploring new ways of sorting and drying the biomass, and takes a lead on further investigating how the use of dead eelgrass leaves washed up on shores affect biodiversity and the marine environment.
